A week from tonight is my faculty recital at Paradise Valley Community College. Unlike previous recitals (2004, 2008), this one has come together with VERY little of the logistical work that such an undertaking usually involves. Instead, all the performers have performed most of the works in the recent past, and they’re all VERY familiar with my work (I jokingly call pianist Evan C. Paul the world’s leading expert on my chamber and vocal music). The venue is a done deal (since I teach at PVCC!), and I’ve had lots of support from my division chair, Dr. Chris Scinto.
This week I hear the first rehearsals of the Modular Suite for horn and piano, and brush-up rehearsals of the Songs of Introspection and Whitman Lullabys. Woody Chenoweth is also preparing for his fourth performance of the Études du Désert! However, first I have to get through the last week of classes!!!!
